Americans have a fat deficiency. It sounds crazy, right? But it's true — the average American diet, and probably your diet, is lacking in the most important types of fats. The Problem:

Many foods, and the fats they contain, are heated, pasteurized, preserved or irradiated, thus, the functional omega-6 and omega-3 content in our foods is low or absent and it is essential to supplement our diets with high quality fresh omega oils to recover optimal health.

New Developments:

One of the leaders in the emerging field of PEO research is Professor Brian Peskin, chief research scientist at the Cambridge International Institute for Medical Science. Peskin also first coined the term Parent Essential Oils (PEOs).

What are Parent Essential Oils (PEOs)?
A PEO is a natural cold pressed organic oil that has NOT been heated or chemically processed and retains enough naturally occurring antioxidants to remain fresh and physiologically active.

Peskin contends that although our modern diet is over-loaded with “omega-6 oils”, these oils and fats have been damaged to the degree that they no longer function as oxygen carriers – and in fact do the opposite, actually diminishing oxygen levels. Current “bad omega-6 oils” should not be counted as food, and need to be replaced with active oils. The best source is unadulterated plant seed oils, basically Parent Essential Oils (PEOs). The sooner your cells get these “good oils and fats”, the sooner they will repair and deliver the health you deserve.

The ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids required to function optimally has been subject to much debate. As mentioned earlier, today’s western diet provides far more omega-6 fatty acids than necessary, but the vast majority of these are damaged to the degree that they no longer function. Peskin and his colleagues hold that the body needs a supply of “good omega-6” to regain health and undo much of the damage already caused to the cells. This is where Peskin and company differ from the industry standard. You’ll find that most oil companies recommend the exact opposite omega 6 to 3 ratio. This is because they consider the omega-6 you are currently eating to be useful, which, according to Peskin, it is not.

The Answer:

Peskin’s and other researchers experimental results have led them to suggest an omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of 2.5 to 1 to enable the best wellness recovery. The suggested use range is 1-2g per 40 lb. of body weight (thus a 160-lb person requires 4 to 8g of this blend on a daily basis).


The Normal Omega 6 to Omega 3 Ratios in Your Body: Even a quick glance at the below table shows that our bodies use omega-6 oils far more extensively than omega-3 oils. Thus the current medical view that omega-3 is needed in higher amounts than omega-6 is hard to justify.
